Changes to our Old Basing site
With deep regret, we are writing to inform you that we have been asked to vacate the rooms which we currently operate out of in Old Basing Health Centre at the end of June.
Crown Heights Medical Centre has, for forty years, had a presence in the Lychpit and Old Basing area of our town. We have greatly enjoyed working from Old Basing over the last nine years and the premises have served both us and our patients well.
This is not a decision that we have taken – the owners of Old Basing Health Centre have told us they need the space in the building for other purposes.
We have been working hard to ensure that we have adequate space at our main surgery in Crown Heights to accommodate patients we currently see in Old Basing. We are working closely with our landlord at Crown Heights to secure additional space which we are hoping will be available to us over the summer months.
Although we know this news will be disappointing for some of our patients, we can assure you that all of the appointments we currently offer from Old Basing will be transferred to our main surgery at Crown Heights. The number of doctor and nurse appointments available for our patients will not be affected by this change. If you usually see your doctor at Old Basing, you will be able to come and see them in exactly the same way at Crown Heights. Whilst for some people this will mean a short journey into town, Crown Heights is easily accessible from the bus station and is connected by a bridge to the Festival Place car park, which has 2500 spaces.
We know that one of the reasons many of our patients like the Old Basing surgery is because it is easily accessible, particularly for those with limited mobility. We are in active discussions with our landlord at Crown Heights and with NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight, who organise NHS services locally, to improve both the amount of space available to us and the accessibility of the services we offer.
